Posted on September 15, 2023 By admin No Comments on About BPSC

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) is a state-level recruitment agency in the Indian state of Bihar. It is responsible for conducting various competitive examinations to recruit candidates for civil services and administrative positions in the Bihar government. BPSC plays a crucial role in selecting qualified individuals to fill important roles in the state administration.

Here are some key points about the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC):

  1. Establishment: The BPSC was established on April 1, 1949, under the provisions of the Constitution of India. It operates under the guidance and rules laid down by the Government of Bihar.
  2. Functions: The primary function of BPSC is to conduct recruitment examinations for various government departments and services in Bihar. These include the Bihar Administrative Service, Bihar Police Service, Bihar Finance Service, and others.
  3. Examinations: BPSC conducts several competitive examinations, including:
  • Bihar Administrative Service Examination (IAS/IPS): This exam is for recruiting candidates into the Bihar Administrative Service and Bihar Police Service, among others.
  • Bihar Judicial Service Examination: This exam is conducted to recruit candidates into the Bihar Judicial Service.
  • Assistant Engineer Examination: BPSC conducts this examination to hire Assistant Engineers for various engineering departments in the state.
  • Combined Competitive Examination (CCE): The CCE is conducted for various posts in different departments of the Bihar government.
  1. Eligibility: The eligibility criteria for BPSC examinations vary depending on the specific examination and the position being applied for. Generally, candidates need to have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
  2. Selection Process: The selection process for BPSC exams typically involves a preliminary examination, a main examination, and an interview. The preliminary exam is objective in nature, while the main exam is a written examination. Candidates who qualify in these stages are then called for a personal interview.
  3. Syllabus: The syllabus for BPSC exams includes subjects such as General Studies, Optional Subjects (for some exams), and specific topics relevant to the position being applied for.
  4. Reservation: Like many other state-level public service commissions in India, BPSC follows a reservation policy to ensure representation from various categories, including Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and economically weaker sections (EWS).
  5. Official Website: BPSC publishes examination notifications, application forms, and other important information on its official website for the convenience of candidates.

It’s important for candidates interested in appearing for BPSC exams to regularly check the official website for updates and notifications regarding examination schedules, eligibility criteria, and application procedures. Preparing thoroughly and staying informed about current affairs and relevant subjects is key to success in BPSC examinations.
